ExchangePlus Release 4.1 is One of the First Products to
Comply with the International Multimedia Teleconferencing Consortium's
(IMTC) iNOW! Compatibility Program for Multi-Vendor Interoperability
ATLANTA, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ --
Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today introduced new software for its ExchangePlus toll tandem, IP and international gateway solution -- making it one of the first products to comply with the International Multimedia Teleconferencing Consortium's (IMTC) iNOW! Compatibility Program for interconnecting multi-vendor IP networks. This certification provides a reliable and common set of procedures for testing and verification of interoperability for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipment.
ITXC (Nasdaq: ITXC), a leading global wholesaler of voice and e-calling services on the Internet, is the first service provider to commercially deploy ExchangePlus' IP capabilities in an Internet telephony network.
"ExchangePlus allows ITXC to use and offer its affiliates industrial strength and flexible softswitches that can also act as IP telephony gateways," said ITXC Chairman and CEO Tom Evslin. "Interoperability is essential for operating and growing ITXC.net, the largest global Internet telephony network, which currently has 273 IP Points of Presence in 155 cities in 63 countries. We are pleased that Lucent and other vendors are adopting the iNOW! Profile, which will help usher in a new era for the IP telephony industry."
"In order to significantly expand their customer bases, Internet telephony service providers need to establish interconnection agreements with other carriers," said Jim Carroll, vice president and general manager of Open Carrier Solutions at Lucent Technologies. "By offering an iNOW! certified version of our ExchangePlus Solution, we're demonstrating our commitment to helping foster the growth, and development of the VoIP industry."
Lucent also announced today that it would provide ExchangePlus to the iNOW! Interoperability Testbed in the Open Test Network established by pulver.com. The test network allows manufacturers to test interoperability of their products with other iNOW! certified applications. ExchangePlus will be displayed in the Open Test Network at pulver.com's Fall 2000 Voice on the Net (VON) conference and exhibition in Atlanta, September 11-14, before being moved to pulver.com's facility in Melville, NY.
These announcements coincide with the formal launch - by the IMTC of the iNOW! Compatibility Program. The goal of this program is to promote the sharing of voice, fax and data traffic across all IP telephony platforms. The IMTC has developed a uniform iNOW! test plan that supplies equipment vendors, developers and service providers with specifications for testing the interoperability of VoIP equipment.
