Fed: Father of murdered backpacker says sentence step forward=2
Foreign Minister Alexander Downer welcomed the verdict, saying it was another importantstep to deliver justice to the families of the victims.
"We've encouraged the Cambodian government all the way along to deliver justice inthis matter," a spokesman for Mr Downer told AAP.
"It's another important step ... to deliver justice, especially for the families."
The spokesman noted that an avenue of appeal still remained open for Sam Bith.
