JnU moves towards digitalisation

Dhaka, Jan. 19 -- Towards making a digital Bangladesh, Jagannath University (JnU) has also come forward like the country's other public universities. The university authority, by inaugurating a cyber centre at the new building, has recently brought out internet facilities for its thousands of students and teachers.

JnU Vice Chancellor Prof. Mesbah Uddin Ahmed launched the cyber centre while teachers and students of several departments were present. In the launching ceremony, he said that the students would be able to search out the latest news and information of all over the world and thus they would cope themselves with the latest trends and technology of the rest of the world. The facilities of this centre would be enhanced soon, he promised.

However, the university authority in association with Computer Council of Bangladesh under the ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology set up the cyber centre. Primarily, 30 computers had been set at the centre. The charge of the internet browsing will be Tk.5/hour.

Students of different departments observed the establishment of a cyber centre at their adoring campus as an epoch-making decision.

Jahid Hasan of Computer Science department said "Now a days, we cannot pass even a single day without internet. We want Wi-fy connection like the other public universities of Bangladesh.''

Thanking the university authority for such an initiative, Poly Akter of Physics department said, "We will able to learn many things with the help of it. To get a good job, there is no alternative to surf internet and to remain linked with it''

Five years have already passed after the establishment of the university in 2005, but no worth mentioning attempt has been taken from the university authority. From the very beginning of its founding, JnU lacks many modern facilities as like as Wi - fy connection, computer labs, digital catalogue and other IT facilities.
